Colorful Creations

This week we learned about colors, while waiting for everyone to arrive, we played with marbles, alphabet blocks, dominoes, and pattern blocks. Grant put the blocks in alphabetical order!

Next we had Circle Time. We learned about the new month, October.

Then we did Letter Bag. This week our letter was C. In our letter bag there was a cow, cookie, and more. Joey traced the picture of C all by himself.

Afterwards we played a game. We set out color pads. Then one of the children would roll the giant dice, and we would do what was written on the dice. (i.e. crawl to blue) Maggie was really good at sharing her color pads.

Later we experimented with mixing colors. Each kid got red, yellow, and blue clay. We mixed the clay to make other colors, then made sculptures out of the clay.

Snack was next. We made cereal and candy necklaces. We put rainbow cereal on a string, and when we were done we made candy necklaces.

Then we went on a color hunt. Each kid got a list of colors. We dug through a box of stuff to find the colors on the lists. Blake liked the cars he found.

Next we painted color wheels. Everyone got red, yellow, and blue paint. Then we mixed the paint to see what colors we could find. Brynley found purple.

Later we read a book about colors. Then we learned the colors of the rainbow to the tune of "London Bridge Is Falling Down" and played a game.  Two people used their arms to make an arch, which the children walked under while we sang our colors song. Whoever was under the rainbow when we were done helped make the next rainbow. We also played some other color games.

Thanks for a fun day of preschool. We're tickled pink for next week!
