Wonders of the Wind

Conveniently, it was a windy day outside when our preschool theme was Wonders of the Wind. While we were waiting for everyone to arrive, we played with trains and a wind tunnel.

 

We started with Circle Time, Show-and-Tell, and Letter Bag. Our letter this week was W. For Show-and-Tell, Blake brought airplanes, Brynley brought a pinwheel, and Maggie brought a watermelon wallet.

Our first activity was playing with parachutes.   Miss Lauren gave everyone a parachute toy to use.   We took turns dropping them down the stairs and trying to catch them.  We learned that the air pushing on the parachute made it go slower.

Next we made pinwheels. Everyone chose a piece of construction paper and drew on it then we folded them into pinwheels.  It was fun to hold them in front of the fan and watch them spin.

For snack we ate popcorn ball "clouds."

 

 

Afterwards, we read "Zoud the Cloud" and talked about how wind blows clouds. We each took a straw and pompom "cloud," and play games blowing our clouds to the finish line.

 

 

 

Later we colored pieces of paper which Miss Lauren folded into paper airplanes. 

We practiced flying our planes.

 

 

After airplanes we went outside to blow bubbles.  Everyone was getting pretty good at blowing bubbles.  Later we went into the garage and Dallin showed us his giant bubble maker.  He let us take turns popping the big bubbles.

 

 

 

After all that fun we played with trains, puzzles, and the wind tunnel while we waited for our parents.
