Preschool Christmas Party

This was our last week of preschool! From 9:30-11:30 the kids did Christmas activities, 11:30-12:30 The childrens' parents came and watched a slideshow and a few performances the children did.

Before the parents came we played and had a short Circle Time. A student, Mariska had a birthday!

The first game we played was Pin the Parts On the Snowman.

Later, we had snack, ice cream cone Christmas trees!!! The children spread frosting on their cones. They decorated them with sprinkles for a cute snack!Last we played a present passing game. There was one present. The present was wrapped in many layers of paper. Each layer had a chocolate and a poem that gave a clue so we knew who to pass the gift to next. Here's an example: This is a fun game, pass this to the person with the most letters in their name! We would then pass the gift to Mariska.

Then the parents arrived, and we watched a slideshow of this semester! After the movie, the children sang some Christmas songs for everyone. It was a really fun semester!!!

Let's Go to the Zoo

Lions and tigers and bears, Oh my!!! This week our preschool topic was about the zoo, so after a little time to play, and Circle Time, we did games and crafts with a zoo theme.

The giraffe was first. Everyone got an outline of a giraffe. We drew eyes on it and drew leaves for it to eat. Then we gave it spots. We took a pencil, dipped the eraser in brown paint, and dotted the eraser onto the giraffe.

This week we reviewed the letters we've learned. We laid the letters on the floor, and Miss Lauren gave everyone animals to put in the "cage" that had the letter of the animal on it.

Our snack was lions. We took a two crackers, and Miss Lauren and Miss Cindy spread peanut butter on them. We broke pretzels in half and put them around the edges of one cracker. We placed the other cracker on top and put three chocolate chips on for the eyes and nose. It was a yummy favorite!!!

Miss Lauren brought her "pet elephant" to share with us! We got to "feed" it by throwing peanuts (Circus Peanuts) into it's mouth! Everyone loved the elephant!!! After we fed the elephant, Miss Lauren let us try a Circus Peanut.

We also learned about a zebra. We glued a white zebra onto a black paper. We put the zebra in a pan, and Miss Cindy poured a little paint on it. Then we used a marble to spread the paint around and give the zebra stripes.
Miss Lauren gave us a monkey toy that climbs when you pull two strings one at a time, and we played until our moms picked us up from a fun day of "monkeying around" at preschool!!!

Things That Go

This weeks theme was Things That Go, so for play time there were toy cars and trains. At Circle Time our letter bag had only pictures of things that began with the short A sound in it. One of the students, Garrett, had a birthday!!!

The first activity we did was make maps. First we drew the places we like to go to on our maps. Then we took a toy car, dipped it's tires in black paint, and drove roads on our maps!!!

A little later, we made our own cars!!! We took a cardboard box and glued on tires, a license plate, and head lights. We also screwed on a steering wheel! Some of the children even added decorations to their cars.

During snack time we went to a drive-in movie theater!!! The children got in their cars and picked-up a snack from Miss Lauren. Then we watched Mater and the Ghost Light. The children had a lot of fun!

After the movie, we went outside to play with our cars. We played Red Light, Green Light and we drove through an obstacle course. The children lined up behind Miss Lauren, and we drove in between barrels.

Our final activity was riding a "train." Each child got a ticket, which Miss Lauren collected before seating them. Then while we drove along Miss Lauren would tell us about where we were. For example when Miss Lauren said "We're about to go up a hill!" Everyone leaned back like they were going up a hill. We went on the train ride until it was time to go. When you're in preschool it's so much fun to always GO, GO, GO!!!
